Good Lord. No, R&C alone cannot "save" the Ps3. But R&C, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, MGS4, Killzone 2, FF XIII, God of War 3, Infamous, and so on, all of these together can and will save the PS3. 2008 will be the year of the PS3, make no mistake. Can anyone name me one big exclusive that the 360 is getting in 2008? Just one? 2008 will be a bad year for the 360.
(P.S.- some of the vehicles and weapons in Halo 3 are pink. PINK!)
AllanWakker- of course I'm using gears of war as a graphical benchmark. I'm not going to compare Uncharted with a super high end PC game like Crysis. I'm going to compare a console game with another console game that has been nearly universally praised for it's graphics, i.e. gears. (I have to admit gears had terrible draw distance though.) What the hell do you want me to compare it to?
Strange, some parts of this trailer look f-ing incredible, and some parts don't look that great. The fire, the water and some of the shadowed areas don't look too good, but the rest looks awesome. Overall I think it looks great, better than gears of war.
I really don't think the PS3 and 360 versions will look much different. Why would the PS3 version look far better? The graphics cards for the two systems are about the same, if anything the 360's graphics card is a little better. What can the PS3 do except add a few more particle effects? I think they'll look nearly identical except the PS3 version will have a few more jaggies.
Mediocre reviews? Are you retarted? Its gotten exellent reviews from almost every magazine on the planet.

I have an xbox 360 but I haven't used it at all since Bioshock and, with the exception of Mass Effect, I don't expect to use it again until late 2008 when Gears of War 2 comes out. Its good to see the PS3 get R&C, it looks like a good game for kids. The PS3 needs some games for children so that it can compete with the Wii, which has so many games for children. Hopefully R&C will convince more parents to buy a PS3 for their infants.
P.S. Odin, Heavenly, and Motor are all good games, mind you, they just aren't 10s.
I'm a playstation loyalist (no, not a fanboy), and I'm always sticking up for the PS3. But Play magazine is completely worthless garbage. You can't trust a single word that Play says. They gave Odin sphere, Heavenly Sword, and I think Motorstorm perfect 10s. None of those games deserved anything close to a 10. Play overrates every game ever made, but they really, really overrate every single sony game. They must be owned by sony. Never believe a review by Play. They are prostitutes.
Good rant. I agree with most of what you've said. But I want to add two other reasons that this generation sucks---every f-ing game has to be on-line now, and most games are too short. Game developers now-a-days are all trying to make their games more cinematic. If I want a cinematic experience I'll go to the movies for 8 bucks, not buy a video game for 60. Give me "Okami 2"!
Last I heard, all PS3s are still using the 90nm chip. Are there even any 65nm chip PS3s out there now? Can anyone confirm this? I still think every PS3 out there now is 90nm.

TheMART- what are you thinking? The PS3 "isn't next gen anymore"? The 40 gig PS3 has everything that the 360 elite has, PLUS its a blu-ray player, PLUS it has wi-fi, PLUS its more powerfull, plus it upscales DVDs to 1080i, etc, etc. Why would anyone buy a 360 instead of a 40 gig PS3? Really, why? There is no reason.
When is this coming to the U.S.? I can't believe that the UK is getting this before the US is. Its usually the other way around. I don't want to wait another month for the 40 gig just so they can bundle it with that piece of crap "spiderman 3". This just sucks. As the richest and militarily most powerfull country on earth, the U.S. should get every bit of new electronics before every other country. Why the hell do you people care so much about backwards compatibility? I will never play another PS2 or original xbox game again, because they look like garbage compared to games on the new generation of consoles. Do you people still have copies of FFX laying around? The Halo series is a retarted attempt at a space opera and it's target audience is 12 year olds. In fact, now that I remember all of those PINK vehicles and weapons, I think the Halo series was targeting gay 12 year olds. The "grunts" and their stupid little kid voices made me cringe every time. The graphics were sub-par, the voice acting was horrific, and the story was idiotic. The fact that the Halo series got high scores from the critics just proves that all those gaming magazine...
